Winter is the season when nature seems to do almost nothing. And perhaps there’s some wisdom in that.
In Chinese Medicine, Winter belongs to the Water element—a time when life retreats from the surface and gathers itself below ground. For us, too, Winter can be an invitation to stop spending quite so much energy and consider what actually replenishes it.
In this special workshop, Josh Summers will explore these ideas through Yin Yoga and Dao Yin, the ancient Chinese art of “guiding and pulling” the body to cultivate Qi. Dao Yin offers us an older and richer context for understanding what we are doing in a Yin practice—not simply stretching the body or trying to “stimulate a meridian,” but creating conditions that support the circulation, regulation and cultivation of Qi.

Escape to life by the sea. Feel the raw energy of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Discover peace on empty, white sand beaches. Rise with the sun over the Caribbean and fall asleep counting falling stars in the Milky Way. Welcome to Colombia, the "Country of Beauty," where the land is defined by its incredible diversity and charm.
An all levels experiential workshop designed to move you through gravitational plateaus and take flight. After thorough preparation, we will intelligently work with the wall to support the process of getting upside down. You will leave this workshop with clear steps that you can safely practice on your own to improve your handstands every day!
In this workshop, we’ll explore the intersection of movement, poetry, and creative expression, considering how each can deepen our experience of the others. We’ll begin with a thoughtfully sequenced flow practice, with poetry woven throughout the class to deepen our experience of familiar poses and relish moments of stillness.
Following the physical practice, we’ll transition into a space for reflection and writing. Through a series of accessible prompts, students will be invited to explore their own creative voice and put language to what they notice, feel, remember, and imagine. No previous writing experience is necessary—just a willingness to be curious.
Students will have the opportunity to share what they’ve written, though sharing is entirely optional.

Spring is what happens when all that quiet work of Winter begins to move.
In Chinese Medicine, Spring belongs to the Wood element—the season of growth, movement and renewed direction. Buds open, roots push deeper, branches reach outward, and the energy that Winter gathered below the surface begins to rise.
In this special workshop, Josh Summers will explore the Wood element through Yin Yoga and Dao Yin, the ancient Chinese practice of “guiding and pulling” the body to cultivate the circulation of Qi.
