The Road to Boston: A Yoga for Runners Workshop with Samantha Arak
Sunday, March 29
1:30-3:30pm • Wellesley & Livestream
This two-hour workshop guides runners through the full arc of a power vinyasa practice, highlighting poses that directly support the physical demands of running — and explaining why they matter. You’ll learn how a smart, intentional yoga practice can build strength, mobility, and resilience, serving as both effective cross-training and meaningful injury prevention.
We’ll explore how to adapt your regular yoga practice to support your miles rather than compete with them, incorporating runner-friendly modifications and movement strategies you can bring into any class. Expect mobility work, strength-building shapes, and recovery practices that help you move more efficiently, reduce injury risk, and feel better on and off the road.
Expect to sweat. We’ll begin with a brief check-in to discuss current training, goals, and any injuries you may be navigating, followed by a dynamic flow, targeted strength work, and restorative shapes with special attention to the hips, hamstrings, calves, ankles, and the often-overlooked stabilizing muscles that keep runners strong and steady. The room will be heated; please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water.
Led by marathon runner and power vinyasa teacher Samantha Arak, this workshop is accessible to all levels and adaptable to where you are in your running or yoga journey. Come as you are - whether you’re heading to Hopkinton this April, training for a spring 5K, or simply learning to love your miles - and leave with practical tools to support every step ahead.
Cost: $40
Please bring a yoga mat (rentals are available for $3 at the studio)
