Why You Practice: Yoga, Ethics, and Healing with Ashley Mitchell & Liz Bucar
Saturday, May 2
1:30-3:30pm • Central Square
What if your yoga practice is asking you an ethical question—and you’ve never had the space to truly explore it?
In this intimate two-hour experience, Professor and author Liz Bucar and longtime Boston teacher Ashley Mitchell invite you to move, reflect, and inquire. The session begins with a grounding 45-minute yoga practice led by Ashley. Then, rather than rolling up your mat and heading out, you’ll stay to engage in guided reflection and conversation using prompts from a custom workbook drawn from Liz’s forthcoming book, Beyond Wellness: How Restoring the Religious Roots of Spiritual Practices Can Heal Us (Penguin Random House, April 2026).
Together, we’ll explore what it means to practice with integrity, cultural awareness, and care—considering not only how we practice, but why.
You’ll leave with your own copy of the book, thoughtful questions to continue exploring, and the experience of practicing in community with others who are interested in the deeper dimensions of yoga.
Ticket includes a copy of Beyond Wellness and a custom workbook. Space is limited.
Please bring a pen & yoga mat (yoga mats are available to rent in studio for $3)
Cost: $50
