Teacher Development: Yoga Beyond the Mat - Philosophy, Practice & Inquiry with Masaaki Okamura
Friday, October 2
6-7:15pm • Porter Square
This workshop offers an opportunity to explore yoga beyond physical postures — as a living practice rooted in awareness, inquiry, and intentional action.
Through guided discussion, reflection, breath awareness, and simple meditative practices, we’ll engage with foundational yogic ideas such as presence, discipline, compassion, and the relationship between mind, body, and attention. The focus is not on achieving a particular shape, but on understanding how these teachings can inform the way we move through daily life.
A central part of the workshop will be an open question-and-answer session, creating space for thoughtful dialogue and personal inquiry. Participants are encouraged to bring questions related to yoga philosophy, meditation, and the practical application of these teachings both on and off the mat.
Whether you are new to yoga philosophy, a teacher looking to deepen your understanding, or anything in between, this workshop offers a grounded and welcoming environment for exploration, conversation, and connection.
Cost: $40
No yoga mat needed.
