Teacher Development: Principles of Demonstration with Rosie Richardson
Sunday, March 1
1:15-4:30pm • Livestream
Demonstration is more than showing a shape — it is a powerful teaching tool that clarifies direction, organizes attention, and brings instruction to life.
In this experiential workshop, Certified Iyengar Teacher Rosie Richardson explores the art and intelligence of demonstration: when to show, when to speak, and how to use your body as a clear and effective teaching instrument. Drawing from the Iyengar method and informed by the science of how we learn through observation, you’ll refine the why, what, when, and how of demonstrating across a range of poses and student levels.
Through practice, observation, and small-group teaching, you’ll learn to:
Use demonstration strategically to support different learning styles
Highlight essential actions without overwhelming students
Position yourself for clarity and visibility (in-person and livestream)
Balance demonstrating, mirroring, and verbal instruction
Communicate alignment, direction, and intention with precision and presence
Together, we’ll explore how thoughtful demonstration supports safety, accessibility, and deeper understanding — and how a teacher’s own awareness, steadiness, and clarity shape what students see and learn.
This session is designed for yoga teachers and teachers-in-training who want to teach with greater confidence, precision, and impact.
Cost: $40
