How it Works & FAQs

About the sessions

  • The journey consists of three private sessions. In your first session, we'll discuss your goals and experience a 15-minute guided practice. Your second session includes a complete practice with personalized guidance and homework. The third session focuses on integration, helping you bring insights into daily life.

  • We recommend spacing sessions 1-2 weeks apart to allow time for integration, though this can be adjusted to your needs and schedule.

  • All sessions are held at Back Bay studio in a private, comfortable setting.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that allow you to breathe and move easily.

  • We recommend eating lightly in the hours before your session and avoiding caffeine. Detailed preparation guidelines will be provided when you book.

About the practice

  • This approach combines insights from traditional practices with modern research. It's currently being studied at Massachusetts General Hospital in two groundbreaking studies examining both brain activity during sessions and participant experiences.

  • While inspired by traditional practices, this is a unique technique developed to be accessible and evidence-based. It's the first breathwork method to undergo comprehensive scientific study at major research institutions.

  • Yes. The technique is being studied at major research institutions, and we follow carefully developed protocols. All sessions are professionally guided with your safety as the top priority.

  • Please consult your healthcare provider before participating if you have any medical concerns. During our first session, we'll review your health history to ensure this practice is appropriate for you.

    This practice may not be suitable if you:
    - Are pregnant or less than 6 weeks postpartum
    - Have recently had surgery or major injury
    - Have a history of seizures
    - Have severe cardiovascular conditions
    - Have glaucoma or detached retina
    - Have been diagnosed with schizophrenia
    - Have experienced psychotic episodes
    - Have severe bipolar disorder
    - Have dissociative disorders
    - Have active PTSD with frequent dissociation
    - Are currently experiencing acute mania
    - Are currently experiencing severe depression with active suicidal ideation

  • No previous experience is necessary. The technique is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of background.

David Magone

David is a lead consultant with the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health where he specializes in breathwork research and protocol development.

His current research and work includes:

  • Breathing Protocols for PTSD and Cardiovascular Health, partnered with with Harvard and Mass General

  • Unveiling the Neuroscience of Breath-Induced Altered States, partnered with Harvard, Mass General, and Northeastern University

  • Developing a CEU Program for Non-Drug Psychedelic Therapy, partnered with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

One of the first non-Tibetan teachers authorized to teach Mangalam Yantra Yoga (a Buddhist Yoga meditation practice dating from the 10th century), David Magone is a master instructor with over twenty years of teaching experience in meditation, yoga, stress inoculation, cold/heat exposure and other 'good stress' methods.

From traditional lineage-based practices to cutting edge experiential retreats, David's stress management courses help students mitigate the harmful effects of chronic stress through controlled exposure to breathwork, cold, heat, forested environments, and yoga.
