Shoulder Stand: Structure and Stillness with Michael Ponte
Monday, February 16
2-4pm • Brookline
Shoulder Stand has long been regarded as a foundational inversion in classical yoga, yet in modern practice it is often rushed, avoided, or reduced to a brief closing posture. This workshop offers a clear, structured approach to Shoulder Stand that emphasizes preparation, support, and stillness.
We begin with a thoughtfully sequenced practice designed to prepare the shoulders, spine, hips, and breath for inversion. From there, we break down the architecture of Shoulder Stand step by step, using support to protect the cervical spine while cultivating lift, stability, and ease.
Rather than relying on force or flexibility, we explore how patience and proper structure allow the pose to unfold with clarity. When approached this way, Shoulder Stand becomes a place of steadiness and quiet focus, inviting sustained attention and composure.
Cost: $45
Please bring a yoga mat (rentals are available for $3 at the studio)
