CHEKARA JEAN
FITNESS FACULTY
Chekara is a passionate Pilates instructor dedicated to empowering individuals of all fitness levels through transformative classes. Her journey with Pilates began after a car accident left her with limited mobility, and her physician recommended Pilates to help rebuild her strength. Through consistent practice, she was able to rehab her body and regain strength, and it inspired her to become a teacher.
Motivated by a lack of diversity in the Pilates community at the time, Chekara wanted to create a space where everyone could feel seen, supported, and welcomed. She became certified in mat Pilates through Balanced Body and has been teaching for two years, with a total of four years of experience in Pilates practice. A standout moment for her has been watching clients grow in confidence and strength, finding connection within their own bodies.
Her classes focus on the mind-body connection, breath work, and the foundational principles of Pilates: breathing, concentration, control, precision, flow, and centering. Chekara incorporates props like Pilates rings, balls, light weights, and resistance bands to add variety and challenge. Music is a key element in her classes, guiding students to move in rhythm with their bodies, and sometimes, the beat. Above all, her goal is to create an inclusive, energizing, and empowering experience that helps students grow both physically and mentally.
Chekara is also the proud owner of a sassy miniature Goldendoodle named Mocha, who keeps her on her toes and brings joy to her every day. Chekaraβs mantra, βSculpt into a stronger you,β reflects her belief in growth, not just in physical strength, but also in body, mind, and community.
