AMY WALTZMAN
PILATES FACULTY
Holding a degree in Fine and Studio Arts from Adelphi University and a career rooted in fashion and styling, Amy has always been drawn to transformation, alignment, and thoughtful change, helping women feel confident in how they present themselves. Pilates became her next expression of that creative and structural precision, shifting her work from refining wardrobes on the outside to strengthening bodies from the inside out.
Her introduction to Pilates was deeply personal. After being diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis in 2001, she sought movement that felt intelligent and supportive. Discovering Reformer Pilates through the Classical Pilates Method transformed not only her physical body, but the quality of her life, evolving from exercise into a way of living and ultimately a calling to teach. Amy began her formal training in 2005 and completed her certification through PEAK Pilates in 2009, later becoming comprehensively certified in 2016. She has now been teaching for nearly two decades and continues to pursue advanced study, thoughtfully integrating elements of yoga into her personal practice and classes.
Her teaching is precise, intentional, and rooted in spinal organization and alignment. She cues from bottom to top, top to bottom, and side to side, encouraging students to use resistance as both challenge and teacher. Clients have affectionately called her “the spine whisperer,” a reflection of her gift for visualization, structural clarity, and refined detail. Amy hopes students leave class stronger, more aware, and feeling better physically, mentally, and energetically, carrying that awareness into daily life. Her passion areas include pelvic health, conversations around menopause and women’s evolving strength, and designing movement that supports real life function.
Outside the studio, she has been married for nearly thirty years and is the proud mother of two young men in their twenties. Creativity remains central to her life, whether through jewelry design, styling, or refining spaces. Hot yoga is her personal ritual and steady source of renewal.
She believes there is always an opportunity to feel better, move better, and live better, and she remains curious about what is next.
