ALEX APGAR
HEATED FLOW FACULTY
Alex believes that mindful movement medicates the soul. On the mat, students will embark on a journey to the heart, enabling them to practice to their own level of ability. Alex's soft yet dynamic presence, enthusiasm, intensity, and sensitivity lead his students through a practice that is equally challenging, uplifting, sweaty, and freeing.
Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts, competitive sports enveloped the entirety of Alex's youth. After a year of Division 1 college football, there came a point where chronic pain and stiffness overrode the tolling thrill of competition. About six months later, Alex found himself in Mallorca, Spain, completing his 200-hour training at Green Yoga International. Over the following three years at college, the dance studio became a place of filled with students, moving and breathing as a respite from the typical stressors of undergraduate life and a global pandemic. As his following and practice continued to grow, so did Alex's desire to catalyze positive change by means of teaching. In his eyes, the importance of physiological challenge as a tool for personal growth thrives in a studio and through yoga. Off the mat, you can find Alex surfing up and down coastal New England, supporting Boston sports, refining his skills as an avid home cook, and writing the occasional song or poem.
