THE FOCUS
Iyengar & Align Yoga
Explore the precision and alignment of one pose at a time in this classical methodology that employs props to make all poses accessible. New England’s largest certified Iyengar faculty offers a comprehensive curriculum of drop-in classes, registration series, multiple levels of instruction, ropes, back care, workshops, assessment preparation, mentorship and more.
Under the directorship of America’s most senior Iyengar teacher Patricia Walden and Boston’s beloved Nadja Refaie, the Iyengar school is named after B.K.S Iyengar (1918–2014), the 'Michelangelo of yoga' and Time Magazine's 100 most influential people.
INTELLIGENT INQUIRY
-
Explore the fundamentals of standing, seated, twisted, back bending and beginner inversions at a methodical, unhurried pace and using props to support. Level 2 students in class can refine intermediate poses and inversions including shoulderstand, headstand, handstand, plus next level backbends, twists and forward bends.
-
Seasoned students with a regular practice who have been introduced to basic standing poses and inversions develop strength and refinement in all groups of asanas, including more complex backbends and arm balances and inversions.
-
Students learn how to safely practice yoga for their individual back condition using poses that address back issues by increasing strength and flexibility for the whole body.
-
Using the resistance and gravity-defying assistance of wall ropes lengthens and deepens your asana practice. Yoga Kurunta (‘yoga puppet’) is open to all levels, but not for those brand new to any yoga.
MASTERCLASS
Patricia Walden
The Iyengar lineage has a long tradition of Senior Faculty teaching the same group of committed students on a weekly basis in a truly progressive and cumulative sequence of instruction. Committing to a registration series allows students to experience the depth that comes from learning under a particular teacher year round and the joys of a shared language, experience, and consistent class environment. Register for Patricia Walden’s series in both Harvard Square, Brookline or livestream.
