MICHAEL GALVIN

IYENGAR/ALIGN FACULTY

Michael Galvin is a certified Iyengar Teacher, a professional violinist and shares his passion for Ropes, Restorative yoga, the Subtle Body and Koshas with those lucky to learn under his tutelage.

Initially trained in Vinyasa yoga, which he taught professionally for years, Michael discovered Iyengar yoga in Colorado with Brenda Fleming before taking the Down Under Iyengar teacher training in 2017-19 with Patricia Walden.

For Michael, studying the poses is but one facet in the study of yoga and he sees the practice as an allegory towards a deeper understanding of ourselves. Through skillful action, one-pointed focus, regulating effort & stilling the mind, Michael’s classes are as engaging as they are informative.

When Michael is not teaching yoga, he is the lead Strings Teacher for the Winchester Public Schools and maintains an active performance & teaching schedule. Michael is available for private sessions in Iyengar Yoga, Ropes & Restorative yoga. Musicians interested in private consultations on tension, technique & the application of yoga into their practice of music, are warmly invited to work with Michael.
