WENDY RUE WILLIAMS

FITNESS FACULTY

Wendy Rue Williams grew up in a small Mississippi town, where she discovered a passion for fitness, anatomy, and strength training—at a time and place where it was uncommon for girls to lift weights. Fitness quickly became both an escape and a source of empowerment, shaping her life’s path and inspiring a career dedicated to helping others evolve and thrive through movement.

With over 25 years of experience as a fitness instructor, Wendy has taught a wide range of modalities, including step aerobics, kickboxing, spinning, bootcamp, strength training, and yoga, guiding students through all stages of life—including her own pregnancies (she was featured in the Boston Globe for teaching bootcamp a week before giving birth). Her approach has evolved from focusing on aesthetics to embracing movement as a form of empowerment and resistance, with strength and agency over one’s body at the heart of her philosophy.

A pivotal chapter in Wendy’s journey was her 4.5 years as an Outward Bound Instructor, working in the wilderness with court-appointed youth. This experience reinforced the importance of creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected. Today, her teaching primarily focuses on strength training and yoga, combining anatomical precision with individualized coaching to foster functional strength, flexibility, and deep mind-body connection.

Wendy’s methodology emphasizes safe, intentional movement and progressive overload while honoring each student’s unique motivations and lived experiences. She aims to create an environment where students feel strong, empowered, and recognized for their efforts, cultivating both physical and mental resilience.

She holds a BS in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Social Work with an emphasis in Urban Leadership from Simmons University. Wendy is a 500-hour E-RYT yoga instructor and holds certifications in personal training, spinning, group fitness, pre/postnatal fitness, and strength training. Recently, she completed a menopause coach certification and continues to expand her expertise in strength and conditioning and advanced yoga practices.

Beyond fitness, Wendy is a visionary leader in global wellbeing, health equity, and inclusion strategy, with over 20 years of experience designing and implementing transformative health initiatives for organizations including Manulife/John Hancock, Point32Health, Marsh McLennan, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She specializes in culturally relevant, data-driven wellbeing programs, integrating DEI and social determinants of health into organizational strategy, and leading cross-functional teams to improve healthcare delivery for underrepresented populations. Recognized for her authentic, collaborative leadership style, Wendy is deeply committed to holistic, inclusive solutions that drive measurable impact on both individual and organizational wellbeing.
