Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga with Abby Keene

This class is the full ashtanga experience for those with an existing yoga practice, those curious about vinyasa’s roots, and those inspired to explore Ashtanga yoga.
Practice will begin with a brief history of the Ashtanga lineage and initial questions before moving into the full primary series, known as yoga chikitsa or yoga therapy. All shapes will be shown with variations and use of props is encouraged. Class will conclude with calming and cooling pranayama and an extended savasana. There will be time to ask questions and engage in discussion before, during and after the practice.
This is a great all-around, challenging practice. No ashtanga experience is necessary, but a consistent vinyasa practice is recommended, as the pace of ashtanga can be demanding.
