Unparalleled Scalability:
The gold-standard in American Teacher Training
The school offers a prolific number of teacher trainings each year, using its graduates to staff new studio openings. Down Under opened new studios in 2021, 2022 and 2023 as proof of concept that its renowned 200 hour and 300 hour Teacher Trainings are capable of staffing new locations in succession without sacrificing the quality of instruction. The school graduates more than 150 professional teachers each year, far more than it can currently hire. Having observed that the studio could replicate its standards in both teaching, operations and cleanliness with ease in these successive openings, Down Under spent 2024 creating a new intensive format for its standard 11 week training, ensuring it maintained the practice feedback and mentorship that is a signature of its success. Since Down Under’s Spring and Fall 200 hour trainings have sold out months in advance for the last two decades, Down Under added a third 200 hour training in summer of 2024, augmenting the ways potential instructors can learn at the school with a fast-track, virtual, intensive format for students wanting to graduate in one month.
The school’s 20 year strong Teacher Training curriculum receives peerless reviews and attracts students from across the United States, Canada and internationally. The curriculum is utterly unique in its comprehensive, methodical progression of modules, crafted over 40 years by leading American experts of each lineage and field of expertise. Graduates emerge confident to skillfully teach multiple methodologies and modalities. When Yoga Journal chose to define the goldstandard for American yoga teacher trainings, it selected the Down Under faculty to articulate the mark of outstanding trainings. The trainings are exportable and expandable and, having equipped all studios with state-of-the-art video, Down Under now trains students and teachers from other states and countries who can easily participate, receiving feedback and coaching in the Down Under pedagogy. The school’s annual trainings include: three 200 hour Yoga teacher training; a graduate-level 300 hour Professional Yoga Teacher Training; three Art of Assisting Trainings; Foundations of Ayurveda; Yogasculpt; and Restorative Yoga, Meditation & Trance Breathing intensives.

Not your average yoga studio, Down Under’s senior managers are highly skilled professionals sustaining the very highest standards across facilities, faculty, programming, and marketing. All Directors and Managers have Key Performance Indicators, Strategic Execution Plans, an executive coach and weekly team meetings to report their financials are tracking with budget targets. Performance reviews, raises, and bonuses are executed in collaboration with Down Under’s HR and Executive Coaches and the management team has demonstrated remarkable collaboration in reaching ambitious goals. Standardized processes and procedures ensure the school’s culture of excellence is replicated across all new locations. Down Under’s creation of three new studios over three years demonstrated the effectiveness of this model, as new managers quickly absorbed the culture and were able to meet key metrics. Annual Student Surveys (answered by thousands of practitioners) and Internal HR surveys (answered by a faculty of over 100 instructors) indicate this expansion saw the students delighted that the quality of teaching and cleanliness was maintained and employees appreciative of the growth.
