EMILY SULLIVAN
KIDS DIRECTOR & VINYASA FACULTY
Emily Sullivan’s dual-careers as a yoga teacher and a massage therapist began with her ballet training. While Emily was growing up on Cape Cod, her ballet teacher taught her how to express herself through movement.
I love classrooms, port cities, rock shows, and dinner parties. I firmly believe we are all more alike than different and that choosing kindness is worth practicing.
I have been a dedicated yoga teacher and massage therapist for over a decade but have held many physical jobs-from classical ballet dancer to bartender-that have informed my career. I also have a background in teaching, having spent several years in ESL working with people of all ages across three continents. I am committed to holding space for populations our society generally underserves and so I work with pre and postnatal women, infants, children, people living with physical limitations, and elders. My yoga classes are marked by creative and safe sequencing, anatomical knowledge, hands-on assists, and encouragement.
There are many teachers who have helped me on this path. Mimi Loureiro and Elliott McEldowney led my 200- hour training and Natasha Rizopoulos, my 300. I am certified to teach yoga to people living with Parkinson’s Disease and other mobility disorders by the author and educator Renee LeVerrier. The bodyworkers Tom Karis (OMT), Bill Polk, and the late Kam Thye Chow of The Lotus Palm School of Thai Yoga Massage led my training in massage therapy. Lama Konchok Sonam of Drikung Meditation Center taught me to sit, a practice at the center of it all.
On a personal note, I have been married and divorced and know what a game changer love can be. I have a spirited daughter and an unflappable partner. Together, they are my color and my light.
