AMY SULLIVAN

VINYASA & RESTORATIVE FACULTY

Amy Grace Sullivan is a yoga and meditation teacher, yoga retreat facilitator, yoga teacher trainer, certified yoga therapist, pre-licensed psychotherapist, writer, and lover of dogs, especially her 2-year-old Dachshund, Tallulah.

Amy’s yoga journey started as a way of rehabilitating her knee injury sustained during her career as a collegiate level athlete and professional dancer. Amy’s teaching career began with her trying to convince her teacher why she shouldn’t be a yoga teacher. It sounded something like, “I swear, I drink… shouldn’t I go to India and be anointed or something?...I’m not even that nice!”

15+ years later, Amy has traveled the world facilitating Yoga Teacher Training Programs, leading yoga retreats, and workshops. She has written blogs, been featured on podcasts and magazines, and was the Yoga Journal Cover Model for March 2013 issue. She has since been to India - there was no anointing - she drinks less, swears more, she has a kind heart and has a unique ability to hold sacred space for people transitioning through difficult times in their life.

Equipped with yoga philosophy, Ayurveda inspiration, an ever-growing passion for psychology, Amy is a catalyst for change. Her mission in yoga is to support her students on their life journey by utilizing the principles of yoga as a vehicle for self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-mastery to help achieve balance and empowerment in their daily lives.

After living on the west coast for 11 years and after receiving her Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, Amy traded in her barefoot hippie life for her Red Sox and came hOMe to Boston where her yoga career began. She is enjoying her new career as a psychotherapist and couldn’t be happier to be back at DUY, her favorite spot to teach yoga.
