Desiree Mottard

Desiree

Desiree Reese Mottard was a professional ballet dancer for thirteen years. During that time she performed over seas and throughout the U.S with various ballet companies. She has received recognition for her work both online and in print within such publications as the Patriot Ledger, The Boston Phoenix and The Boston Globe.

After retiring as a performer, she began to focus on teaching and currently is a ballet instructor and teaches Journey Dance. She enjoys the duality of the structure and discipline that classical ballet requires as well as the joyous celebration that Journey Dance offers.

Desiree found Journey Dance to be healing practice during the first years of retirement when she felt a loss of identity and self assurance. At first it was difficult to push beyond her need of structure in a class such as ballet to Journey Dance which encourages free form movement. Though once she let herself go she was able to connect to her inner truths and integrate her experience into her everyday life . For Desiree, the practice has been a significant tool towards healing that she wants to share it with others.

In addition to teaching, Desiree is a full time student and is pursuing her undergraduate degree for Holistic Psychology at Lesley University.
